KNOW ABOUT YOUR COFFEE

  • Tanzania is one of the world's top producers of high-quality coffee beans, and has a long history of production. The first coffee plantings in the country were established by German settlers in the late 19th century. However, the coffee industry really took off with the arrival of the British, who began to cultivate coffee on a large scale. During the 20th century, Tanzania's coffee production became an important industry and the country became one of the leading exporters of high-grade Arabica coffee beans.

The country has two main growing regions; the Southern Highlands and the Northern Highlands. The Southern Highlands produces mainly Arabica coffee beans, which are known for their sweet and fruity notes, and the Northern Highlands produces mainly Robusta beans, which are more bitter and acidic. Tanzania's unique climate and soil conditions mean that the country produces some of the most sought-after coffee in the world.

Today, Tanzania is a major player in the specialty coffee industry, and the country produces some of the highest quality coffee beans available. Coffee cherries are picked by hand and processed using the wet or dry methods, depending on the region. The beans are then sorted, graded, and exported to markets around the world.
