Equipment:
- Chemex brewer and filter paper
- Kitchen scale
- Hot water kettle
- Coffee grinder
- Mug or carafe
Ingredients:
- 22g coffee (4.5 tablespoons)
- 300g water
Directions:
- Boil water and let it cool for 30 seconds to reach a temperature of around 205°F (96°C).
- Grind 22 grams of coffee beans to a medium-coarse consistency.
- Wet the Chemex filter with hot water and discard the water.
- Place the Chemex brewer on top of the mug or carafe and add the coffee grounds to the filter.
- Start the timer and pour 4 grams of water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion, making sure to saturate all the grounds evenly. Allow it to bloom for 4 seconds.
- For the second pour, add 13 grams of water in a slow and steady circular motion, starting from the center and working outward. Stop pouring when the timer hits 1 minute and 3 seconds.
- For the third pour, add 13 grams of water in the same way as the second pour, starting from the center and working outward. Stop pouring when the timer hits 3 minutes.
- Allow the coffee to finish dripping through the filter, which should take about 4-5 minutes in total.
- Remove the Chemex brewer and enjoy your delicious cup of coffee!
Note: Adjust the amount of coffee and water to your desired strength and taste preferences. Additionally, make sure to clean your drip coffee machine regularly to ensure it's working correctly.
